Hope Rising in the Heart of Jamaica: Croydon Relief Mission Launches Emergency Response After Hurricane Melissa
Catadupa, Jamaica — When Hurricane Melissa made landfall, the region surrounding Croydon in the Mountains faced hours of relentless winds and devastation from the storm’s eye wall. Today, as the community reels from the worst natural disaster in recent memory, the Croydon Relief Mission has launched an urgent campaign to transform its private estate into a vital emergency command center for western Jamaica.
A Lifeline in the Highlands
Just 6 minutes by air from Montego Bay Airport to either the north or south coast of Jamaica—Croydon is moving quickly to support first responders and families in need. On site, teams are setting up:
- A temporary sick bay for medical teams and volunteer nurses
- A helicopter landing pad for air supply drops
- Kitchen and food storage to support families and field teams
- Fresh water systems and safe shelter for evacuees
“We are working hand in hand with the Jamaica Defence Force, Food For The Poor, and local volunteer responders,” said campaign organizer Dylan Chong. “Our goal is simple: stabilize the region, deliver food and medicine, and provide safe shelter to all who need it. From our mountain home, hope can flow in every direction.”
What Your Donation Makes Possible
Every dollar raised will directly fund:
- Emergency transport and fuel for supply missions
- Medical supplies, clean water, and nutritious meals
- Safe sleeping areas for displaced families and responders
“This is about restoring dignity and life after unimaginable loss,” added Chong. “Please help us turn our family farm into a fortress of care for Jamaica’s heart.” As Croydon coordinates with local emergency resources, immediate support is critical.
